Stertorous \Ster"to*rous\ (st[~e]r"t[-o]*r[u^]s), adjective [L. stertere to snore: cf. F. stertoreux.] Characterized by a deep snoring, which accompanies inspiration in some diseases, especially apoplexy; hence, hoarsely breathing; snoring.
