Comprehend \Com'pre*hend"\, verb (used with an object) [imp. & p. p. {Comprehended}; p. pr. & vb. n. {Comprehending}.] [L. comprehendere, comprehensum; com- + prehendere to grasp, seize; prae before + hendere (used only in comp.). See {Get}, and cf. {Comprise}.]
